PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Presently is the owner of Ricardo Abrahão Geociências S/S and consultant for Engineering Geology and Rock Mechanics, with aim in design, construction, operation, arbitration and dam safety.
Produced more than 30 papers published in Brazil and abroad. In 2019 produced the chapters ‘Foundation’ and ‘Dams’ for the new ABGE (Brazilian Association of Engineering Geology and Environment) book. For the new ISRM book ‘Soft Rocks’ prepared the chapter ‘Dams’
Was the Vice Chair of the ICOLD Committee on Dams and Water Transfers, from 2004 and 2013, editing the Bulletin 161.
Has been consultant for projects in some countries as Ecuador, Algeria, Chile, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru and ephemeral contribution in Nigeria, Libya, Panama, Argentina, Portugal, Mexico and Dominican Republic.
Was lecturer professor of ITA – Instituto Tecnológico da Aeronáutica, (1977-1984) where implemented the course of Engineering Geology.
Has delivered courses of Geology and Dams for ABGE, CBDB (Brazilian Committee on Dams) and few in house training. Is lecturer professor for post graduate courses of Dam Safety in IDD Group and Federal University of Bahia.
Was design manager and technical coordinator of hydro power plant projects and São Francisco River Water Transfer system.
Was hired by CESP (São Paulo Energy Company) and by Promon Engineering. Has collaborated in more than hundred projects of infrastructure and hydro resources such as Água Vermelha, Itaipu, Xingó, Belo Monte and São Francisco River Water Transfer project.
Is a member of the Board of Consultants of São Manoel, Sinop and Belo Monte hydro power plants.
